FAIRY TALES: A NEW HISTORY WITH RUTH B. BOTTIGHEIMER

Where did Cinderella, Puss in Boots, and Rapunzel come from? Conventional wisdom holds that fairy tales originated in the oral traditions of peasants and were recorded for posterity by the Brothers Grimm during the nineteenth century. Author/historian Ruth B. Bottigheimer overturns this view in a lively account of the origins of well-loved stories. A signing of her recent book, Fairy Tales: A New History will follow.
