Join the 153rd birthday celebration for Harwich's famous bird carver Anthony Elmer Crowell with the opening of a new exhibit presenting donations for the Crowell barn. The exhibit will display the generous gifts of decoys, paintings, photographs, ephemera, tools and more for the barn, recently reconstructed on the grounds of the museum.

Anthony Elmer Crowell (1862-1952), a master decoy carver from East Harwich, specialized in shorebirds, waterfowl, and miniatures. His c. 1895 barn was recently reconstructed in its original design on the grounds of the museum. It showcases Crowell's workshop and chronicles his life through audiovisual and photographic displays, tools, bird-carving demonstrations, and workshops.

The exhibit is part of the weekend's "Christmas in Harwich" celebration sponsored by the Harwich Chamber of Commerce. Harwich Remembers World War II, railroad World War I, cranberry and maritime displays will also be open along with the museum gift shop.

The exhibits will continue on Saturdays in December, 12, & 19, also from 1-4 p.m. Admission to the other dates is $4 for adults; free for kids and students.
