Yoga & Kayaking Retreat with Greg DiLisio & Johnny Snyder

Ready for a magical weekend in the heart of the Berkshires? Want to be dazzled by Mother Nature's fall foliage display? Greg DiLisio and Johnny Snyder bring their popular and seasoned Yoga and Kayaking program to Eastover which features 600 acres of unspoiled natural beauty and inspiring views with a jaw-dropping landscape of blazing colors. There are gardens to stroll through, trails, and waterfront access for kayaking. You'll renew your passion for the outdoors, connect with Greg and Johnny and connect with your own spirit, coming away feeling fully alive again.

Explore the abundance of flora and fauna that lives in and along that part of the river that flows between October Mountain State Park and the Eastover property. Some of the things you can expect to see on your excursion include lush plant life along the water's edge, from wild morning glories to varieties of daisies. One of the coves always sports lovely purple pickerel plants and yellow bull-head lilies. The western slope of October Mountain is ablaze in color and reaches down to the water's edge along the entire length of the trip.

In addition to the plant life, there is an abundance of animal life: from the aquatic to the wide variety of birds and waterfowl. Fallen tree trunks host turtles and frogs sunning themselves along the river's edge; beavers and muskrats are plentiful (and quite active at dusk) and - by paddling or drifting quietly toward them - we can get quite close before the beavers slap their tails and the muskrats submerge. Beaver lodges dot the landscape. Geese and ducks are plentiful and can be seen nibbling at the duck weed. Other birds commonly seen include swamp sparrows, red-wing black birds, red-headed woodpeckers, cardinals, herons, kingfishers, hawks and, on occasion, bald eagles.

Begin each day with sun salutations and qigong. After a full day of hiking and kayaking, you can unwind in the whirlpool or relax with a restorative yoga session. On the water, you'll review kayaking safety/techniques and experience our signature floating meditation, truly connecting. After dinner back at the Mansion, a short walk from there, on the property, awaits Tally Ho, an iconic bar and reception space.

Those interested in stepping up a level can practice rescue/rolling drills during the day in the comfort of the indoor pool, but on the other hand, "paddling is optional" and putting down the paddle, stretching, walking mindfully and having a moment of serenity is sometimes the best choice you can make.

You'll wake up to a moment by a bonfire, with music and taiji, greeting the sun coming up over October Mountain, followed by breakfast, a short walk on the property and a rejuvenating moderate yoga session.
