13th Annual Poetry & Chili Festival

Beat the winter blues with an evening of great chili and cornbread, talented local poets, ice cold Cape Cod Beer, frosty Margaritas, and dancing to the R&B/rock music of the Catbirds, featuring Chandler Travis on bass and vocals, Steve Wood on vocals and guitar, Dinty Child on mandocello, guitar, accordion, and vocals, and Rikki Bates on drums.

The evening begins with the Chili and Cornbread Contest from 6 to 7 PM. Samples of an eclectic array of chili and cornbread recipes are included in the price of admission.

Contestants are invited to bring enough chili and/or cornbread for 100 or more small tastings. Cooks must register in advance at ArtsOnTheCape.org, where more information is available on how to participate. Cooks must read the USDA's guidelines on Cooking for Groups.

Cooks are encouraged to provide chili toppings, such as cheese, guacamole, and sour cream, and to decorate their stations.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Chili, Best Cornbread, and Best Decorated Station.

Acclaimed Cape Cod poet Christine Rathbun Ernst leads the Poetry portion of the event, which begins about 7 PM.

Free tickets are provided to registered cooks.
