Cape Cod Inflatable Park Expansion
West Yarmouth, MA
Cape Cod Inflatable park plans to expand on an adjacent 1½-acre property purchased by Park owner Joseph Maramma. The plan is to demolish the existing building and use 35,000 square feet to expand the water features of the Route 28 Park. Planned is a “lazy river”-style attraction plus some features for adults. The construction will be started in September and the new space should be open in time for the 2018 season.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
Fall 2017, Extension to Yarmouth
Yarmouth’s extensive network of cycling paths and roadways has been supplemented by the Rail Trail extension. This section can be cycled presently by parking at the lot west of the intersection of Old Townhouse and West Yarmouth Roads and continuing south on Forest Road to Long Pond Road. This long-awaited extension will open in Yarmouth, where the western end of the Rail Trail meets a local bike trail at Peter Homer Memorial Park. Long-range plans call for extending the Trail farther westward into Barnstable. Crossing Station Avenue on a pedestrian bridge, the Trail will roll through woods for 2.5 miles to a 160-foot bridge (scheduled for opening in mid to late 2018; signs will be posted at the trailhead regarding the bridge status) over tidal Bass River, and then another pedestrian bridge over MA 134 to the current trailhead in South Dennis. Yarmouth will be the new start of the Rail Trail, at least for a few years, until it extends further down. The next two sections, from Station Avenue to Mary Dunn Road and Mary Dunn Road to Route 132, or some alternative routes, should be completed by 2020
