“Visit MA” App

The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism recently launched a new travel app. Download the free app “VisitMA” from the app store, and start planning your perfect getaway to Massachusetts. The new Plan Your Trip feature is an interactive way to map out everything you don’t want to miss in the Bay State. There are ready-made itineraries that make it easy to save, share and enjoy, or customize your visit to your preferences.

MIT Museum

As part of MIT’s Kendall Square Initiative, the MIT Museum is preparing to take up residence in the eye of Kendall Square’s innovation district, where it will occupy more than 58,000 square feet of galleries, classrooms, and state-of-the-art program and performance spaces—all at the threshold of MIT’s campus. The projected opening date for the new Museum is October 2021.

Boston Landing

Brighton has announced a dramatic expansion plan with the construction of a multi-sport complex with a 200-meter indoor track, a sports research lab, regulation courts and turf field space, as well as a separate warm-up track.  The space will also function as a concert venue with ground-level retail and foodservice. Boston Landing is already home to New Balance HQ and the training facilities for the Celtics and Bruins.

Illumination Lawrence

Lawrence, June 2019 – present

The Iluminación Lawrence project will shine a light on the city and show others its vibrant colors in a safe, upbeat setting. The city got a glimpse of its lighted future at a soft opening in June when Iluminación organizers briefly shined colored LED lights through the west face of the Ayer Mill tower clock and over Casey Bridge piers. In the coming year, the program — a city, state and nonprofit partnership — will make colored lights available at those landmarks any time and in any hue.

Micah Thanhauser grew up on Martha’s Vineyard, a couple of miles away from Merry Farm Road, where he now lives and works. After studying pottery in Rhode Island, Maine, North Carolina, and Japan, and finally apprenticing for three years for potter Akira Satake, he returned home to build his kiln and workshop. He uses minimally processed natural materials to produce work that is functional, lively, and engaging. He specializes in making dishes for beautifully complementing food, for home cooks and professional chefs.

 

American Airlines Commences Seasonal Service between Charlotte NC (CLT) and Philadelphia PA (PHL) and Martha’s Vineyard (MVY)

Beginning in June, American will add two new ways to get to the lighthouses and sandy beaches of Martha’s Vineyard from two connecting hubs on the East Coast — Philadelphia (PHL) and Charlotte (CLT). All flights will be operated on an Embraer 175, featuring 12 First Class seats and 64 Main Cabin seats.

Cape Cod National Seashore Head of the Meadow Bicycle Trail Connector Completion

Cape Cod National Seashore announces completion of a major bicycle improvement project in Truro to implement a portion of the Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (Master Plan) of 2017; the Master Plan was released by the Cape Cod Commission with the national seashore and the towns of Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown (see http://parkplanning.nps.gov/pedbike).

 

The Head of the Meadow Bicycle Trail is re-opened, and a new Head of the Meadow Bicycle Trail Connector has been constructed. Safe bicycle connections to more National Seashore and Truro destinations are possible as the National Seashore’s bicycle trail now extends from High Head Road to Coast Guard Road in Truro. The 1.9-mile Head of the Meadow Bicycle Trail was rehabilitated, including a new base course, widening, and resurfacing. The .8-mile Old King’s Highway segment from Head of the Meadow Road to Coast Guard Road is now re-named the Head of the Meadow Bicycle Trail Connector.

Wayfair opens first brick-and-mortar location in Natick. One of its perks is more personal service. At the Wayfair Home Bar, shoppers can get complimentary design advice and recommendations on whichever project or room they’re working on — whether it be the kitchen, living room or even backyard. Plus, there will be technology allowing you to digitally style a room in your home and then visualize it in virtual reality. As for physical items you can purchase in-store, there will be hundreds of products for sale. It’s a curated selection of what’s online — after all, there are more than 14 million items available on the website.
