BOSTON (September 29, 2015) – Six Massachusetts special events are featured in the 2016 Top 100 Events in North America issued this month by the American Bus Association (ABA), according to the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT).
The prestigious list, compiled each year by an ABA committee of motor coach and tour operators, recommends these Massachusetts events for 2016:
- America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration/ Plymouth
- Annual Pops by the Sea/ Hyannis
- The Big E/ West Springfield
- Salem Haunted Happenings/ Salem
- Scallop Fest/ East Falmouth
- Boston Harborfest/ Boston
A seventh Massachusetts event, the Working Waterfront Festival in New Bedford, also received ABA recognition as an Event to Watch in 2016.
“Massachusetts has some of the nation’s most iconic events, as ABA’s list demonstrates,” says MOTT Executive Director Rich Doucette. “We congratulate all six events. They make an important contribution to our robust tourism industry.”
According to ABA, the winners are selected from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, fairs and other special events that are submitted by all 50 states and Canada. This is the 34th year the ABA awards have been issued.
