The T runs daily service on buses, boats, trains and trolleys throughout Boston and surrounding towns. Stations can be identified by a black T on a white circular sign:

Purchase fare on a CharlieTicket with cash, debit, or credit card at fare-vending machines in any station or aboveground trolley stop, or with cash only at a bus farebox. It costs $2.25 to ride the subway, trolley, or Silver Line 1-3 and $1.70 to ride the bus with a CharlieCard. If you use a CharlieTicket or cash, it costs a little more. Fares on the Commuter Rail, ferry, and The RIDE depend on how far you travel. Reduced fare programs are available. The MBTA has developed user guides for first-time T riders and first-time Commuter Rail riders to help you get the most out of your visits to the Greater Boston area.

Visitors benefit from multi-day LinkPasses for unlimited bus, train, trolley and Inner Harbor Ferry access for 1 ($9.00) or 7 ($15.00) days effective from date of purchase. Passes are available at any in-station or Logan Airport fare-vending machine or at vendors throughout the city.
