immortal notes, Parisian air

Chameleon Arts Ensemble opens its 16th chamber music season with a trip to the City of Light, where artists have gone for centuries - to study, to be inspired, to make their mark. The program includes the Cello Sonata by Paris' most famous expatriate composer, Frederic Chopin; the great American maverick Morton Feldman's delicate, imaginative portrayal of the poet Heinrich Heine's encounter with Chopin on the Rue Furstenberg; Richard Rodney Bennett's Sonata After Syrinx for flute, viola, and harp; Aaron Copland's 1926 Nocturne for violin & piano; and Felix Mendelssohn's b minor Piano Quartet, Op. 3, a work that was to gain him entree into the glittering Parisian musical world.
