The New England Basketball Hall of Fame announced at a press conference today that it will hold its 2013 Induction Ceremony and Dinner at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 22. The event will feature a series of afternoon panel discussions featuring basketball luminaries, followed by dinner and the ceremony at 6:00 p.m. The New England Basketball Hall of Fame will honor a variety of distinguished individuals and teams at the June 22 event. Honoree highlights include the following individuals and teams: � A special tribute to former University of Massachusetts Coach, the late Jack Leaman. Many of Coach Leaman's former players and assistant coaches will be on hand. John Calipari, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Kentucky, and former Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Massachusetts, will be in attendance to pay tribute to Coach Leaman. � The All American Red Heads. This iconic team paved the way for the great growth of women's basketball in New England, and on a national scale. Many members of the All American Red Heads were residents of New England. The June 22 program will feature a marvelous display of All American Red Heads history, developed by Red Heads historian, John Molina. Also, a number of former team members will be present at the ceremony. � The Harvard Men's Basketball Team has been selected as the New England Basketball Hall of Fame "Scholar-Athlete Program." This award is presented at each ceremony to a New England Intercollegiate Basketball Program whose players have not only distinguished themselves on the court, but in the classroom and with great success later in life. � A number of former NBA players with New England roots will be inducted, and present at the Ceremony. The NBA group includes Ryan Gomes of Providence College and the Boston Celtics; Michael Adams of Boston College and the Washington Bullets, and Ricky Mahorn, a native of Hartford, Connecticut , who had a tremendous career with the Detroit Pistons. � Donn Nelson, former captain of Worcester Academy and presently General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks will also be inducted, as will the late Jack Donahue, former head men's basketball coach at Holy Cross. Donahue went on to great success as the head coach of the Canadian Men's National Team. The entire 2013 New England Basketball Hall of Fame Class, along with several other important updates including additional celebrity attendees, will be announced on the event website at a later date.
