Every performance is surprisingly different and always entertaining, exciting and educational with the award-winning Atwater-Donnelly duo, who provide a unique and thrilling blend of traditional American and Celtic folk music and dance, along with original songs and poetry. The highly praised husband-wife duo blends gorgeous vocals with an astounding array of instruments including the mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, tin whistle, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, limberjacks, feet and more. Based in Warren, Rhode Island, Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly have traveled extensively for thirty years in the United States, with occasional trips to Ireland, England, and Canada, to perform as well as find their songs and dances one by one. They have produced seven books, thirteen recordings that receive international airplay, and were featured in a documentary by their son, Uriah Donnelly. Hailing from our neighboring historic fishing town of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Emerald Rae is both a small-town girl steeped in cherished traditions and a world-class artist breaking new ground with her sophisticated approach to rhythmic and percussive fiddling. Her direct and intimate style of singing infuses her songs with a powerful immediacy while her extraordinary chops transform the fiddle into anything from bagpipes to flamenco or electric guitar, slap bass or ukulele. Her voice, alternately high and honeyed then gutsy and soulful, delivers a vocal range that encompasses both wind and sea, animal and etheric. The performance will take place in the church's handicap-accessible Fellowship Hall. Coffee, tea, and delicious homemade desserts will be available for purchase.
