In celebration of the exhibition, Orchestrating Elegance: Alma-Tadema and Design, the Clark hosts a summer book club focusing on two novels and a selection of short stories set in or inspired by the Gilded Age in New York. The book club meets once a month in June, July, and August. Clark staff members facilitate discussion of Edith Wharton's The Age of Innocence (June), Mark Twain's The Innocents Abroad (July), and Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray (August), making connections to Henry Gurdon Marquand's elegant music room designed by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. The book club is free and open to the public. Wine and sparkling water are available for purchase. Books are available for purchase in the Museum Store.
