In the new year, an exciting exhibition, "Crafting a New Home: Refugee Artisans of Worcester" will open at the Worcester Center for Crafts' Krikorian Gallery. Featured will be weavings, baskets, bamboo crafts, sculptures and embroideries by refugee artisans collaborating with the nonprofit project RAW, Refugee Artisans of Worcester. RAW supports craft work as a vibrant means toward self-empowerment for refugees. Gallery visits throughout the show's duration, as well as the OPENING RECEPTION on January 18, 2020 from 1-4PM, are free, open to the public. Craft demonstrations by artisans will take place, along with a 2 to 3 p.m. talk by guest curator Emerita Anthropology Professor Susan Rodgers, College of the Holy Cross, and RAW co-founders Ellen Ferrante and Joan Kariko. Rodgers and Holy Cross student docents will be happy to lead gallery tours for classes and groups during the exhibition, January 16 - February 29, 2020, Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Please contact Prof. Rodgers at to set up these free tours.
