Protecting the Fairhaven-New Bedford Harbor since 1775

Built in 1775 at the beginning of the American Revolution, Fort Phoenix protected the harbor at Fairhaven through the Civil War. Since 1926 it has been a public park, open during daylight hours year round. Free "Pirates & Privateers" programs are offered on Friday mornings June through September at 10:00 a.m. and there are two historical encampments by the Fairhaven Village Militia each year in the spring and fall. Free Parking. Handicap access. Adjacent to Fort Phoenix State Beach.
