The Vineyard Playhouse on Martha's Vineyard is a professional, non-profit working theater dedicated to inspiring, enriching and entertaining our diverse island community.
The Playhouse was founded in 1982 and operates year-round in its historic theater building located in downtown Vineyard Haven. The company presents exciting contemporary, classic and original plays and develops new work through staged readings, professional workshops and world premieres.
For 18 years, the theater has offered educational programs to Vineyard elementary students; and during July and August, the Playhouse is home to Summer Stars Theater Arts Camp for children. Also during the summer months, the company presents vibrant Shakespeare productions and highly imaginative shows for children outdoors in the Tisbury Amphitheater.
The Vineyard Playhouse is dedicated to the collaboration among professional and local theater artists and contributes to and shares in the rich cultural resources of our unique island.
