Old Whaling Church
Crafted by Skilled Shipwrights in the 19th Century
89 Main St., Edgartown, MA 02539
The Old Whaling Church is one of the finest examples of Greek revival architecture in New England. Built by Edgartown's prosperous whaling captains, the church was constructed by skilled shipwrights. Inside, the original whale-oil lamps still burn bright, while gazing at the marvelous trompe l'oeil mural that causes the church to appear much larger than it is. Enjoy a service, or absorb the fascinating history of this unique building.
