The Department of Athletics at the College of the Holy Cross sponsors a comprehensive program at the NCAA Division I level, featuring 27 varsity athletic teams. Intercollegiate sports for men are baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track & field. Crusader women compete in basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track & field, and volleyball. A charter member of the Patriot League, Holy Cross competes against American, Army, Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola (Md.) and Navy in conference play. The men's ice hockey team is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association, while the women's ice hockey team belongs to the Eastern College Athletic Conference and the men's rowing team competes in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges. In addition to their success in competition, Holy Cross student-athletes are consistently recognized for their outstanding efforts in the classroom and in the community.
