As the holiday nears, this Berkshires destination’s décor offers an atmosphere of taste and timelessness that is just about peerless.

For those who have never been before, Cranwell Resort is a place steeped in history, as its Historical Hotels of America listing explains in full detail. The grounds date back to the 1800s as a cottage location, with the famed author Harriet Beecher Stowe being just one of several owners to have a house on the hill.
Near the turn of the 20^th century, John Sloane constructed the architectural gem that still stands today. In a fitting finishing touch, Sloane also commissioned Frederick Law Olmsted, the renowned landscaper who designed New York’s Grand Central Park, to lay out Cranwell’s grounds.

Adding location to luxury, Cranwell is just a short distance from plenty of museums, ski resorts, art galleries, shopping spots, scenic drives, wineries, and family fun.
Of course, with all that the resort offers, you wouldn’t even need to leave to get lost in the Berkshires for the weekend. Cranwell has a full service spa, cross-country skiing, ice-skating, a fitness center and classes, in addition to the 114 rooms. There are also several choices for dining, as well as a wonderful wine selection. You can even travel with your furry friend, as Cranwell is pet-friendly. The resort makes a magnificent destination for weddings and other events, too.
