As we gear up for the official kick off to the summer season, it’s time to start planning for some family fun out and about in Massachusetts! Did you know that Massachusetts hosts a number of fantastic, family-friendly fairs each month this summer and into the fall?

From month-long extravaganzas that feature a stacked list of attractions to more regional, relaxed summer happenings, each of these Massachusetts fairs are worth a trip.

The Brockton Fair, Brockton, MA: June 27 – July 7

Towards the end of June, the Brockton Fair will swing into action for the 139th time and it promises to be a good time for all who attend. This year’s fair features a wide range of attractions, with FMX Motocross, the Walker Bros. International Circus, and a White Bengal Tiger Exhibit all on tap, to name just a few. For a full schedule of events, click here. After eleven days of fun, the Brockton Fair wraps up with a bang, shooting off fireworks for four nights in a row. You can find directions to the Brockton Fair here and ticket info here.

Barnstable County Fair, Barnstable, MA: July 20 – July 27

For a summer fair near the water, head for the Cape and make a stop in Barnstable. The Barnstable County Fair is old-fashioned family fun, with a range of carnival rides, music and vendors that will put a smile on everyone’s face. This year’s musical acts will include the legendary Motown group The Spinners, as well as some of the Cape’s best up-and-coming talent. Three County Fair, Northampton, MA: August 30 – September 2

In Western, Massachusetts, as summer begins to turn towards fall, you’ll find the Three County Fair, one of the longest running fairs in the country. Three County Fair traces its roots all the way back to 1818, and 195 years later, the fair is still going strong. True to its history, the Three County Fair still highlights agriculture, education and science. With a couple of months left until the fair, the schedule of events hasn’t yet been finalized, so make sure to keep an eye on the schedule section of their site for updates. You can find driving directions here.

The Big E, West Springfield, MA: September 13 – September 29

Following on the heels of the Three County Fair is The Big E, one of the largest and most recognizable fairs in the entire country. The Big E draws folks from all around New England for two weeks of fun filled with a plethora of events, shows and exhibits. From educational entertainment to lighthearted activities to carnival food, you’ll find it all and then some at The Big E. Click here for ticket information.
