South of Boston

The eclectic South of Boston region marches to the beat of its own drummer, and that drummer likes history, beaches, and unexpected art. Live like the Pilgrims did (or at least make candles like they did) at Plimoth Plantation, a living-history museum where it’s always 1627 (i.e. nobody is texting!). Check out the New Bedford Whaling Museum or, even better, check out some actual whales, in the very place that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Go to the Art Complex Museum for the classic Shaker furniture, and stay for the Japanese tea ceremony. See? We told you it was unexpected. Regardless, enjoy the natural beauty and charm of the South Shore.
