Kayak along the Ipswich River. Play a round of 18. Take in a Red Sox game at historic Fenway Park or or take a bike ride along the many paths and mountain roads this spring and summer.
We are, after all, located in a unique part of the country. Where you can view a wide range of athletics at the professional and amateur levels. Where it’s possible to embark on a whale-watching or fishing charter one day, and trek through miles of winding mountains and trails the next. Where the world is your playground and there are countless attractions, recreational activities and events to cherish, all year long.
Don’t Move Firewood
In 2008, the town of Worcester, MA made the devastating discovery of an Asian longhorned beetle infestation. Upon said discovery, the town was forced to destroy over 27,000 beautiful New England trees.
By moving wood from place to place, you may also be moving exotic pests to different locations. The solution is simple: Don't Move Firewood. The Western Mass "That's What Tree Said" campaign is dedicated to spreading this critical message to the people of Massachusetts, and we need your help. Awareness of the problem is the best defense, and the people of Massachusetts deserve to be armed. The campaign is on the ground at local events around Massachusetts this summer spreading the word, one person at a time. A listing of local events is found here.
We encourage you to learn more about the Don’t Move Firewood fight.
