ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents High Art. Syd, one of the lead editors at an uppity art magazine, unexpectedly falls in love with her neighbor, the lesbian photographer Lucy Berliner, when they happen to meet. Syd has an eye for new talent, and Lucy sees an opportunity for a smart career move. Soon, the two are headed down a road that is fraught with peril--Syd loses her boyfriend, Lucy's girlfriend splits and the two develop an addiction to heroine alongside their affection for one another. Providing a look into the risky, cutthroat world of pretentious creativity, High Art packs a powerful punch, provoking thoughts on the nature of artistry and the dangerous side of love.
