Dates: Sun, Dec 16, 2012
Times: 5PM & 8PM
Description:
Two fiddlers from widely respected bands (Brittany Haas of Crooked Still, and Lauren Rioux from Darol Anger's Republic of Strings) are joining forces. As a duo, the women bring their extensive knowledge of Appalachian music and experience of being at the forefront of the contemporary string band scene, as well as the strength and depth of seasoned performers. Their music is steeped in groove, emotion-filled and harmonically progressive, while the joy they share on stage as they weave and dance through duets on their instruments and vocals is palpable among audiences.

In Tim O'Brien's music, things come together. The uncanny intersection of traditional and contemporary elements in his songwriting, his tireless dedication to a vast and still-expanding array of instruments, and his ongoing commitment to place himself in as many unique and challenging musical scenarios as possible has made him a key figure in today's thriving roots music scene - and well beyond it.

Musician-songwriter, Scott Law embodies the ideal of the steel-string guitar master. Scott's alternately chiming and grinding melodic concept bears favorable comparison to the greatest innovators and practitioners of American Guitar, merging a dynamic sense of phrasing and tonal command into an individual, identifiable sound. Scott's original songs and story-like solos come straight from the heart of Rock, Rhythm & Blues, California Country and post-Monroe Bluegrass, merging timeless tradition and modern experience into a spontaneous, artful expression.
