Elliott Murphy
Dates: Wed, Dec 5, 2012
Times: 8PM
Description:
A poetic lyricism is wedded to hard-edged arrangements by Long Island-born, Paris-based singer/songwriter Elliott Murphy. Born to a show business family in New York, Elliott began his career by winning the New York State Battle of the Bands in 1966 followed by a troubadour like odyssey in Europe where he played on the streets in Amsterdam, Paris and Rome. Returning to the US he quickly secured a record contract, establishing himself as a true rock troubadour, indefatigable road warrior (over 100 shows a year!) and prolific author of fiction. Guests on Murphy's albums have included Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Sonny Landreth, Bruce Springsteen, and members of the Smithereens, Talking Heads, and the Velvet Underground.
