This gallery talk will examine the small 17th-century Persian painting "Courtier Refusing Wine from Indian Courtesans," which brings up fascinating issues regarding East-West relations through its subject matter, technique, and style. Blending local and foreign elements, the work reflects the cosmopolitan nature of Safavid Iran. Admission is free to MA residents with valid ID on Saturdays before noon.
