The Excelano Project
Dates: Sat, Feb 2, 2013
Times: 8:00pm
Description:
Cotuit Center for the Arts will present The Excelano Project on Saturday evening, February 2 at 8:00 PM. The Excelano Project is a spoken word poetry collective based at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Their poets have been featured at the White House, on HBO in the documentary "Brave New Voices," at the famous Nuyorican Poets Cafe, on Broadway, and all around the world.
Tickets are $10 in advance, and $15 at the door.
The Excelano Project is known for their heartfelt words, striking performances, and provocative, lyrical poetry. Performing on their campus, touring and competing at the national level, The Excelano Project has made a name for itself. In 2007 and in 2009 they won the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational title, the "national championship" for college spoken word troupes. The word Excelano, in Latin, means "march forth," a phrase that signifies their commitment to progressive thinking and artistic expression through the medium of spoken word poetry.
Proceeds will benefit WE CAN, who since 2001 has empowered Cape Cod women of all ages to successfully navigate challenging life transitions such as career change, job loss, illness, retirement, divorce, isolation or personal loss.
