ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage Presents: In the Mood for Love Two couples move into neighboring apartments on the same day. Over time, Mr. Chow and Mrs. Chen come to realize that their frequently absent spouses are having an affair. Although the two experience a similar attraction to each other, especially with their new knowledge, they each understand that the other plans to remain faithful no matter what. Still, they cannot deny their newly formed bond and embark on a journey exploring the parameters of love. Hong Kong-based director Wong Kar Wai litters the film with stunning cinematography, moody music, and structured improvisations that lend a relatable, endearing tone to the work.
