ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents The Weight of Water. Based on the bestselling novel by Anita Shreve, The Weight of Water follows two couples on a journey to an isolated New England island where they pry open a century-old double-murder. Flipping between time periods--the present and the 1873 setting of the murder--the film works to solve the dead-end mystery while jealousy and betrayal in the present threatens to tear the couples apart. Bigelow has once again assembled a starry, notable cast including Sean Penn, Sarah Polley and Catherine McCormack to tell this story of deception, revenge and unfaithfulness.
