Get Ready for Family Fun at Sheep Day / Earth Day!
Earth Day is officially in April, but at Soule Homestead Education Center in Middleboro, the event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 11th. There will be activities and programs on a wide variety of practices pertaining primarily to sheep farming, shearing, and the processing of wool. Ongoing demonstrations will include spinning, weaving, rug hooking and rug braiding. Activities especially for children are washing fleece, carding, spinning and felting wool, along with making crafts using wool and recycled materials. The day will also include a variety of handcrafts made by local artisans and locally grown perennial plants for sale. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. Admission is $5 per adult; $2 per child (under 12 years); children under 3 free. Soule Homestead is located at 46 Soule Street in Middleboro.
