ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents Coming Home. Hal Ashby's drama explores the Vietnam War from the perspective of the damaged men who returned and the women left behind. Jane Fonda and Jon Voight both won Academy Awards for their powerful portrayals of a conservative army wife and the paraplegic she falls in love with while her husband is in combat. Roger Ebert praised the film for how it daringly "confronts the relationship between Fonda and Voight with unusual frankness - and with emotional tenderness and subtlety that is, if anything, even harder to portray."
