In her New York Times bestseller Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities, Amy Stewart takes on Mother Nature's most appalling creations. It's an A to Z of plants that kill, maim, intoxicate, and otherwise offend, and was the inspiration for the Wicked Plants special exhibit currently on view in the Special Exhibitions Gallery. During this engaging program, Stewart draws on history, medicine, science, and legend to present tales of bloodcurdling botany that will entertain, alarm, and enlighten even the most intrepid gardeners and nature lovers. Her talk is illustrated by dazzling photographs, historical images, copper engravings, and other visuals. Following this presentation, join Stewart and Les Lutz, Heritage's Director of Horticulture, for more fun on a walking tour of over a dozen different diabolical botanicals that creep through Heritage's gardens. Fee: (includes museum admission): $15 Members, $30 Non-Members
