    The City of Lowell is an invention. As the first industrial city in the United States, and a long-time leader in urban redevelopment, Lowell has been a model for cities across the country. In this exhibit we examine the invention and re-invention of the city. This exhibit is produced as part of a project sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution's Lemelson Center for Invention and Innovation. It features a work-in-progress view of a series of videos that the American Textile History Museum and Lowell Telecommunications Corporation are creating to be included in "Places of Invention" a new, long-term exhibit opening at the National Museum of American History in 2015.
