Comeau's collage murals explore loss, repair, and rebirth. From vintage linens to cast-off sheets, she finds new purpose for old fabrics in ways that explain larger issues of identity and class--as well as insatiable consumer need. By referencing collective quilt making and needlework--traditionally seen as female activities--she not only pays homage to the historic role of women in craft, but also elevates our understanding of textile as an artistic medium.
