Discover the foundations of today's Christmas traditions at Old Sturbridge Village's Christmas by Candlelight event. Historians will explain the origin of traditions like Father Christmas, sugarplums, yule logs, Christmas trees, mistletoe and more throughout nine special evenings in the month of December. Costumed interpreters will sing 19th century carols and demonstrate popular seasonal dishes of the time period. Visitors can ride in horse-drawn sleights (weather permitting), sip hot cider, and see chestnuts roasting on an open fire. There's no other place in New England that does an old-time Christmas quite like Old Sturbridge Village. SELECT WEEKENDS ONLY: December 5-7, 12-14, 19-21
