Considered one of the most remarkably talented string quartets ever to emerge at such a young age, the Dover Quartet will perform Beethoven's Quartet in E minor, Opus 59, No. 2; "De Profundis," a short work written by local composer Stephen Dankner in memory of former Williams professor Irwin Shainman; and the Brahms Quartet in A minor, Opus 51, No. 2. Tickets are $25 ($20 members, $10 students). To order tickets, call 413 458 0524. Formed at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008, the quartet draws from the musical lineage of both the Vermeer and Guarneri Quartets, but brings a youthful enthusiasm and musical conviction to the repertoire that is truly its own. The Strad magazine raved that the quartet is "already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretative maturity, tonal refinement, and taut ensemble."
