The "Art on Loan" program which displays the work of local artists on the meeting room walls in Barnstable Town Hall, will feature the paintings of Michele Noiset through the end of February. Works will be displayed in both the Town Hall Hearing Room and the Selectmen's Conference Room. Michele Noiset has been a freelance illustrator for over twenty-five years. Her published illustrations are colorful, whimsical, and animated, usually painted traditionally in gouache and acrylics. Recently Michele took a departure from her whimsical illustration, returning to school to work on her MFA. As part of her thesis project, Michele worked on the theme of man's inhumanity to man using plots of dystopian novels as her inspiration. She worked entirely in the pastel medium, and developed a series of tightly rendered, closely cropped, and refined images. She continues to expand on the work she began for her master's, finding unlimited dystopian themes to build upon. The images shown at the Barnstable Town Hall are a continuation of this project. Besides teaching full-time at UMD, Michele continues to pursue her freelance illustration business, and conducts Pastel Workshops and a 'Drawing Children' course at RISD.
