Holyoke:Points of View

The City of Holyoke's Department of Economic Development, in conjunction with the Holyoke Public Library, will be presenting a series of art and cultural events throughout the month of April. This program will take place in venues throughout Holyoke's Arts & Innovation district. In addition to an exhibition of the work of Jerome Liebling, other events and exhibits will include "Holyoke Through Our Eyes," photographs taken by Holyoke youth today that will be displayed in both a virtual installation (by architect/educator Erika Zekos) at the Library and as part of another photography exhibit, "Holyoke Then and Now" that will also include works by photographers Jeffrey Byrne and Bill Ravenissi and paintings by Greg Stone. Also part of the program will be an exhibit illustrating the history of the Grenier Family of Photography Studios consisting of photographs and memorabilia to honor this icon of Holyoke arts and industry; a juried competition of artists' renderings of sculptures that incorporate 100-year old glass blocks from the original Holyoke Public Library stack wing; a presentation by the Puerto Rican Cultural Project and other events currently under consideration.
