"DREAM OF THE RED CHAMBER" A SHOWCASE OF CHINESE CULTURE!
For a night of unforgettable traditional Chinese musical entertainment, all are welcome to attend the 2016 Acton Chinese Music Night, featuring the classic showcase, "Dream of the Red Chamber." This event will be presented on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. at the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Auditorium located on 36 Charter Road in Acton.
Written by Xueqin Cao, "Dream of the Red Chamber" is a Chinese masterpiece remarkable for its detailed observations of the life and feudal societies of the mid-18th century Qing Dynasty. It is an inspiring showcase of Chinese literature, art, music, and drama.
Renowned Composer Liping Wang encapsulated the spirits of the story when creating the soundtrack for the 1987 TV drama version of "Dream of Red Chamber." This music series became a beloved classic for generations of Chinese audiences.
The Boston Chinese Musicians Association Orchestra and Choir will perform eleven out of the fourteen original songs at this event. This ensemble will include famous conductor Tiansheng Guo, and professional singers Wanzhe Zhang, Yan Lian, and Yanqin Zeng. Xiaomei Wang is the host for the concert.
In addition to songs from "Dream of Red Chamber," you will also enjoy a variety of traditional Chinese music instrument performances including the Zheng, Ruan, Pipa, Erhu, Yangqin, Xiao, Bawu, Suona, and Hulusi.

Tickets are $15.00 for general admission, and $13.50 for seniors and groups of 20 people or more. Tickets are available for purchase at Donelan's Supermarket (248 Great Road, Acton), Roche Bros.
