Chameleon Arts Ensemble opens its 19th concert season with one of the most sumptuous entries in the chamber music repertoire and a masterpiece that stands at the end of the great tradition of 19th century German Romanticism: Arnold Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) for string sextet, Op. 4. The rest of the program immerses us in a world of moonlit mysteries and fractured dreams. Ernest Bloch's Violin Sonata No. 2 "Poème mystique," came to him after a night of feverish delirium. Australian composer Brett Dean explores states of mind after dark in his Night Window for clarinet, viola, and piano. John Woolrich's In the Mirrors of Asleep for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano takes its cue from whispers and ticking clocks. Finally, Rebecca Clarke's rarely-heard 1917 miniature Morpheus for viola and piano evokes the Greek god of dreams and sleep.

Tickets are $47, $36 or $25 with $5 off for students and seniors.
