Music by Black Composers

"In an intimate space, and with insightful introductions from Mr. Mobley, the singing seemed to burst the hall's bounds, to express a deeper, intangible truth," wrote New York Times reporter David Allen of the 2015 version of this program in the African Meeting House. Countertenor Reginald Mobley once again curates the program of music by black composers featuring members of Handel and Haydn Chorus. The one-hour a cappella concert includes spirituals, minstrelsy, gospel, and contemporary works led by Mobley, who artfully weaves the history of each piece into his introductions.
