Overlooking the Old North Bridge and the site of the Concord Fight, the historic Old Manse, built in 1769, was home to Concord's patriot minister the Reverend William Emerson and his wife Phebe Bliss Emerson. Reverend Emerson was closely involved with the Concord Minutemen and their activities leading up to the fight at the bridge on April 19, 1775, and later he served as chaplain in the Continental Army. Visit the Old Manse during Patriot's Day celebrations to hear stories of its revolutionary connections and to learn what its residents were doing on the day the war began in their own backyard. The Old Manse nine-acre plot provides the best location to view all Patriot's Day festivities at and adjacent to the Old North Bridge
