MOTT’s International Overseas Trade Shows & Missions for FY 2014

September 12-15, 2013 – JATA “Tabihaku” Travel Showcase: Largest tourism trade show in Japan. Over 30,000 tourism professionals (tour operators, travel agents and receptive operators in Japan) and over 60,000 consumers attend the show.

November 4-7, 2013 – World Travel Market (London, UK): Largest tourism trade show in the United Kingdom, and a chance to meet with and discuss business with up to 90+ U.K. tour operators/travel agents. The show also offers the opportunity for further business with operators expanding into the U.S.

November 24-29, 2013 – ‘Thanksgiving’/MA Sales Mission in Tokyo, Japan: Combined PR and Sales mission to Tokyo, Japan to strengthen support for JAL direct service Boston-Tokyo plus sales calls to Tokyo based tour operators.

January 9, 2014 – Massachusetts/DNE Los Angeles Japan Market Networking Event: A networking event with Los Angeles based Japanese tour and receptive operators.  14 companies and over 60 tour planners will be invited to the event to meet and network with MA/New England suppliers.

January 23-26, 2014 – Destinations Manchester (Manchester, UK): Destinations Manchester is a consumer holiday and travel show. Massachusetts will have its own standalone booth. Massachusetts travel industry participants will pay for their own airfare, hotel accommodations and any travel expenses.

January 23-26, 2014 – Dublin Holiday World (Dublin, Ireland): This trade and consumer show is Ireland’s largest travel event of the year. Massachusetts has purchased a spot for one member of the Massachusetts tourism industry. Individual participants will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses, but participation in the actual event is complimentary. MOTT will accept participants on a first-come, first served basis.

January 27-31, 2014 – UK Sales Product Mission: MOTT will conduct a sales/product mission in the UK (possibly also including a day in Dublin) visiting major UK tour operators and meeting with senior product managers and decision makers. Individual participants will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses, but participation in the actual event is complimentary. Mission itinerary subject to change. MOTT will accept participants on a first-come, first served basis.

February 1-8, 2014 – DNE Japanese Trade Mission to Tokyo: Key Japanese tour planners, hotel purchasers, tour operators and airline representatives will participate in the seminars, workshops and meetings to be held in Tokyo as part of this trade mission. Invited are key tour planners, hotel purchasers, and tour operators from Japanese companies. Individual participants from Massachusetts will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses.

February 6-9, 2014 – Destinations London (London, UK): Destinations London is a consumer holiday & travel show. Massachusetts will have its own standalone booth. Massachusetts travel industry participants will pay for their own airfare, hotel accommodations and any travel expenses.

March 20, 2014 - Massachusetts/DNE New York City Japan Market Networking Event: A networking event with NYC based Japanese tour and receptive operators.  Key companies and tour planners will be invited to the event to meet and network with MA/New England suppliers.

Winter, 2014 (exact dates TBC) – MA Sales & Training Mission to Brazil: in conjunction with the Copa Airlines offices in Brazil, MOTT is planning its first sales/training mission to Brazil visiting several major cities served by Copa Airlines within Brazil to support the newly introduced service from Brazil via PTY to Boston. Individual participants from MA will be in charge of the costs of their own internal airfares within Brazil, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses but participation in the actual event in complimentary. MOTT will confirm complimentary airfare from Copa Airlines Boston to Brazil.

February 25-27, 2014 – MA Trade Mission to Toronto & Montreal: Massachusetts is facilitating its second comprehensive trade mission to Canada. Participants will visit various key product managers, airline representatives and media from all over Ontario and Quebec to discuss new tourism product and news across the state. The mission is sponsored by MOTT. Individual participants will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare*, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses, but participation in the actual event is complimentary. Mission itinerary subject to change. MOTT will accept participants on a first-come, first served basis.(MOTT will attempt to secure complimentary airfare on Porter Airlines)

March 5-9, 2014ITB Berlin (Berlin, Germany): ITB is the world’s largest tourism exhibition focusing on consumer/travel trade. With more than 180,000 attendees, among these 108,000 travel trade and more than 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries, ITB Berlin is the leading B2B-Platform of all tourism industry offers.  In addition, ITB provides unique opportunities to benefit from the leading think tank of the global tourism industry. Attendees include Tour operators, booking engines, destinations, airlines, and hotels.

Spring, 2014 (exact dates TBC) – MA Trade Mission to France: Key French tour operators, hotel purchasers, tour operators and airline representatives will participate in the seminars, workshops and meetings to be held in Paris as part of the trade mission. Invited are key tour planners, hotel purchasers and tour operators from key French companies. Individual participants from MA will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses but participation in the actual event in complimentary.

April 5–9, 2014 – International Pow Wow (Chicago, IL): TIA’s International Pow Wow is the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and is the largest generator of Visit USA travel. In just three days of intensive pre-scheduled business appointments, more than 1,000 U. S. travel organizations representing all industry category components, and close to 1,500 International and Domestic Buyers from more than 70 countries, conduct business negotiations that result in over $3.5 billion in future travel. Massachusetts will have its own booth at Pow Wow this year. Individual participants will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses, but participation in the actual event is complimentary. MOTT will accept participants on a first-come, first served basis.

May 19-21, 2014 – Discover New England Annual Summit (Mystic Marriott Hotel, Mystic, CT): Each year, DNE invites close to 80 tour operators from the UK, Germany, France, Italy and other countries as well as U.S. receptive operators to its Annual Summit to meet with 300+ New England travel suppliers. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one meetings with these tour operators.

Mid June, 2014 (exact dates TBC) – MA Trade Mission to Scandinavia: Key Scandinavian tour operators, hotel purchasers, tour operators and airline representatives will participate in the seminars, workshops and meetings to be held in key Scandinavian cities as part of the trade mission. Invited are key tour planners, hotel purchasers and tour operators from key Scandinavian companies. Individual participants from MA will be in charge of the costs of their own airfare*, hotel accommodations, and any travel expenses but participation in the actual event in complimentary.(*MOTT will attempt to confirm complimentary transatlantic airfare via Icelandair)
