The Big E is here again. New England’s largest fair. Whether you’re tackling it for the first time or you come annually, here’s a primer on what not to miss.

Agriculture: From Farm-A-Rama to Livestock to the Mallary Complex you’ll see every flora and fauna New England has to offer.

Avenue of the States:  The Big E isn’t just a Massachusetts fair, it’s a New England fair. You can visit the state buildings of all six states, sample food, pick up brochures and purchase local products. Make sure to stop by the Massachusetts building on September 24th. for Mass Day.

Entertainment & Exhibits:  There’s a circus spectacular and a Mardi Gras parade; music legends like Alabama and The Charley Daneils Band; TV personalities from American Restoration and Counting Cars; and the extreme stunt team, xPogo just to name a few.

Food & Drink:  If you can think of something to deep fry, the Big E has probably thought of it first. But if you’re watching your waistline, you can find plenty of healthy food as well from salads to smoothies to turkey legs. Finish up your meal with a famous Big E cream puff or eclair.

Midway & Shopping: After lunch (or maybe it would be better before) visit the midway and ride everything from the gravity defying Poper Surge and Zipper to the soaring Yo Yo. There’s also a Kiddieland for the smaller adventurers. And if you not feeling adventurous, spend some time visiting the many craft booths and take home a souvenir.

Storrowton Village: And if you want to harken back to a simpler time in our history visit Stowwowton Village one of the lesser known historic villages in Massachusetts.

Wherever your interests lie you’re sure to find something to satisfy the adventurer, foodie, shopaholic or kid in you.

  • The Big E is one of the best fairs in New England. It’s also an easy day trip from the city! This is a great time to explore that part of the state, which is very beautiful this time of year.

  • Mosquito Festival

Wonderful!! The Big E is one of the fairs for which I keep on waiting. Last time I had lot of fun in this funfair. Another one which is also very popular is Mosquito festival Clute. Lot of other things can also be done in this event such as bird watching, diving, beaches and many more.
