Looking for a new challenge? Just south of Boston in New Bedford, a 65-foot indoor rock wall just popped up, and it’s equal parts exercise and entertainment: Carabiner’s Climbing and Fitness Center!

Read on for an inside look at what makes New Bedford’s new facility one of the best all-inclusive fitness centers in Massachusetts for folks of various ages and skill levels!

Fist and foremost, rock climbing is front and center. Whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned pro, Carabiner’s has the skilled staff and equipment necessary to help you climb in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment. If you’re feeling uneasy, start small with the short 10-foot climbs or bouldering. Once you’ve taken a brief belay class, you’ll be ready to harness up and scale the 65-foot courses! They even rent out a 26-foot portable climbing wall for events and parties.

If climbing just isn’t your thing, or you’d like more variety in your workout, that’s no problem, because there’s plenty of other ways you can exercise at Carabiner’s New Bedford’s recently renovated fitness area. Under fitness program director Jeff Costa and martial arts instructor Spencer O’Berry, there are tons of fitness programs available, including Yoga, sunrise boot camps, Tai Chi, Pilates, Zumba, kickboxing, workout classes for kids and families, and more. Check out the extensive class schedule here.

Trying to decide what to do with the kids while you’re out getting fit? That’s a non-issue, because Carabiner’s is the perfect place to take them, too. With a decorated party room and 1.5 hours of rock climbing, Carabiner’s Birthday Climbing Adventures are a fun option for an active birthday party that children will definitely remember. Plus, if they really get into it, the After School programs and Youth Climbing Clubs can keep the kids climbing for much more than one day.

All climbers must fill out a registration form before they can enter the climbing area, so you can save yourself some time by registering online. Once you’re registered, read up on what to expect on your first visit, including a Belay Course or an Intro to Climbing Package. There are also multiple membership options for high school and college students, and even family memberships.
