The Bay State’s magnetic coastlines and serene, inland waterways offer a number of water-based activities — everything from swimming to fishing and kayaking. But what you might not know, is that these bodies of water are also perfect backdrops for your next culinary adventure!

Today on MassFinds, we’ve gathered a number of waterfront dining experiences that go beyond your typical seaside dock — here are nine ways to dine without boundaries across Massachusetts:

Greater Boston

Take a City Water Taxi! Boston boasts a number of waterfront dining locations, so for those looking to take their water-based culinary adventure to the next level, Boston’s City Water Taxi makes over 20 stops along the Hub’s waterfront, providing easy access to an array of wonderful restaurants and eateries.

How about a harbor cruise? Boston’s Odyssey Dinner Cruise, which combines breathtaking views of the city from their spectacular observation deck, and an indulgent meal, provides a truly unique way to take in all that Boston Harbor has to offer.

North of Boston & Greater Merrimack Valley

The cozy Waterside Tap and Grill in Methuen has something for everyone with a menu of classics and comforting favorites, such as their lobster mac and cheese, fresh seafood, and an extensive list of steaks and chops. Most notably, their dining room provides an up-close dining experience that overlooks the Merrimack River.

Essex River Cruises & Charters, which provides regularly scheduled, daily-narrated cruises in Essex from May through October, offers a Coffee & Muffin Cruise on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, and even a Clambake cruise.

The Schooner Thomas E. Lannon Charter offers a sunset Chowda and a Lobsta Roll Dinner Sail every Friday-Sunday evening along Gloucester Harbor.

Out of Newburyport, the Yankee Clipper offers a “Sunset Cocktail Cruise” every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, featuring a relaxing 90-minute tour with highlights along Newburyport Harbor and the Merrimack River.

South of Boston

The Pilgrim Belle, which tours along historic Plymouth Harbor with a unique, paddle-wheeled boat, features a number Brunch & Dinner Cruises throughout the duration of the summer. Reservations are required, and tours generally last around 90-minutes.

Cape Cod & Islands

In Provincetown, Art’s Dune Tours offers a special Sunset/Clambake tour, combining the likes of breathtaking, seaside sunset views, and a fresh, authentic New England-style clambake prepared by local restaurants.

In East Dennis, along Sesuit Harbor, the Lobster Roll Cruise features daily lunch, dinner, and sunset cruises from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Reservations are highly recommended.
