Over the past few years, cooking has quickly become one of my favorite things to do — whether it’s preparing dinner for my husband and I, or preparing a holiday feast for many more, I thoroughly enjoy spending time in the kitchen and creating a tasty meal.
Lucky for me, I’ve had the pleasure of going into someone else’s kitchen twice this past year!
Joseph’s Trattoria, located just off of 495 in Ward Hill, invites guests into their kitchen once a month for “Cooking with the Chefs,” where attendees learn how to prepare a five-course flavorful meal from a group of talented culinary pros.
Chef Robert Ozoonian and his culinary staff run a class of about twenty students, which features a number of culinary stations: appetizer, salad, pasta, entree, and dessert. Students work closely with the chefs when visiting each station, so they can see how all courses are prepared.
Surprisingly, creating a five-course meal is not as difficult as you might think — once the staff shows you how! And when your meal is complete, you are seated in the dining room and served your meal, which is paired with three carefully selected wines.
The chefs at Joseph’s use only the freshest ingredients (which is a huge bonus in my book!), and prepare the foods in a simple manor, leaving only one thing that stands out — flavor.
If you have an interest in cooking, or would like to know what goes on behind the scenes in one of the areas best restaurants — Joseph’s Trattoria was voted Best Italian Restaurant in 2011 and 2012 by Best of the North Shore, North Shore Magazine — then attending a “Cooking with the Chefs” session is a wonderful way to spend your Sunday evening.
You’ll have a lot of fun, learn some new things in the kitchen, prepare and eat a delicious meal, and go home with an apron and a copy of all the recipes you made.
Get a group together and sign up for the next session; it’s a fun activity to do with your family or friends. My family and I enjoyed our first Cooking with the Chefs so much, that we booked a second private class just for us!
